We are a new church start recognized by the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Church of Christ and led by a pastor ordained in the United Church of Christ.
We first gathered in February of 2008 in the homes of members of the group to study the Bible. Several weeks into this program it became very apparent that God was calling us to become more than a Bible study group.
In March of 2008 several members of the group searched out and rented space in order to begin congregational worship.
At its very first congregational meeting this nascent church voted to be Open and Affirming (welcoming all without regard to race, creed, or sexual orientation) joining some 746 other O and A churches in the UCC. The congregation declared themselves a Justice and Peace church and a Whole Earth church (concerned with all the ramifications of the biblical call to be “stewards of the earth.”)
This small and dynamic congregation has vowed to be a church that puts youth in the very forefront of its concerns. It has already accomplished several important missions and held a peace vigil in the Parker community.
In extending an extravagant welcome to all who come to visit us we believe that we are following the example set by Jesus the Christ. In acting on our pledge to be a church in mission we believe that we are answering God’s call to love all those made in God’s image. In attempting to live out our pledge to be a Whole Earth church we believe we are following the biblical dictate that calls upon us to care for all of God’s creation.
At Parker United Church of Christ we welcome everyone who welcomes everyone else!
